THE MUSEUM STAFF HAVE IMPROVED THEIR PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS IN KOREA

From December 11 to 20, 2025, seven employees of the Association of Museums of Almaty have improved their professional qualifications at leading museums in the cities of Seoul and Gyeongju (Republic of Korea). The professional development of the staff was carried out free of charge by the Association of Seoul Museums. This is the result of systematic work aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

The training program included theoretical and practical classes on the main areas of museum activities, in particular, the registration and preservation of exhibits, ensuring their proper storage conditions, including monitoring and regulating appropriate climatic conditions (temperature, humidity, lighting), carrying out restoration and conservation work, and overseeing compliance with safety requirements during transportation.

Within the framework of the internship, employees of the Association of Museums of Almaty became thoroughly acquainted with the work practices of leading museums in Seoul and Gyeongju. In particular, they visited the National Museum of Korea, the National Folk Museum of Korea, the Seoul Museum of History, the Seoul Museum of Craft Art, the King Sejong Museum, the Admiral Yi Sun-sin Museum, the National Palace Museum of Korea, the Gyeongju National Museum, Gyeongju National Park, Gyeongbokgung Palace, the Cheonggyecheon Museum, and the Hanyangdoseong Fortress Museum. They also took part in activities of the open-air Gyeongju Archaeological Complex, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and studied its best practices.

It should be noted that in 2022, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Association of Museums of Almaty and the Seoul Museum of History. Within the framework of this agreement, the exhibition “Jewels of the Great Steppe” of the Almaty museum was held at the Seoul Museum of History in 2022, and in 2024, the exhibition “Wonders of Seoul” of the Seoul Museum of History was organized in Almaty.
